The Federal Open Market Committee voted 9-3 to hold rates steady, with dissenters focusing in the need for action soon to return inflation to target.
In addition, officials discussed the possibility of holding fewer meetings this year, with Chairman Kevin Warsh indicating that six meetings might be more efficient than the current eight.
