Breakeven rates hit levels not seen in more than two months as investors grew concerned over the inflationary impacts of the department's intention to double its buyback levels of government debt.
"The background here is very unforgiving at the moment, There's this cocktail of concerns that has risen up," said Van Hesser, chief strategist at KBRA, a credit and bond rating agency.
